Direct Sodium ion measurement at below 5 ppb for monitoring corrosion in steam boilers and steam turbines in the power industry.

Advanced Technical Services GmbH, Switzerland has introduced a new series of Atomic Emission Analysers especially designed for the optimised monitoring of traces of sodium ions. In the electric power industry high purity water and steam are of utmost importance for the control of corrosion in boilers and steam turbines particularly in view of the continuously rising costs of boiler maintenance repairs and out-of-service plants. The formation of scale and the level of impurities in the many parts of the steam/water cycle needs to be controlled so as to extend the lifetime of these vital parts. Water treatment costs may be reduced using a more accurate and dependable analyser.

The ATS 200 PPB Low Na/K Analysers can measure sodium ions direct to below 5 ppb level, giving direct concentration readouts in seconds. Their unique features include a greatly extended straight segment linearity of the analytical curve, speed of measurement, simplified analysis procedure and minimal running costs. They offer enhanced analytical precision and dependability. The fast analysis cycle and direct readout of the results is a great step above the usual indirect methods requiring sample pre-concentration or a special handling of the raw sample.

A further advantage is that the ATS analysers work with low temperature propane/air flame at 1900° C instead of the oxygen/hydrogen flame at 2600° C.

The ATS 200 PPB Low Na/K analysers can be supplied either as a stand-alone unit for laboratory use, or it can be supplied as an on-line process system for the continuous monitoring of Na and K.

For laboratory analysis of grab samples, the addition of a computer, an autosampler and an autodilutor offers maximum flexibility and automation for meeting GLP international protocols, for method validation and for simplified laboratory work procedures.

In addition Potassium and Calcium can also be measured with the ATS 200 Low Na/K analyser very conveniently.

The ATS 200 PPB Low NA/K analysers have not only an extended measuring range to below 5 ppb level, but the high range too is extended upward to ppm levels - for Na, K and Ca.
